Last Night

No.  It's not about what I did last night.  It's all about how I felt last night.  Relaxed, and awashed in luxurious comfort.  I felt the pillows, the shams, the gorgeous duvet and oh, those sheets!

Many of us know by now, that a great quality sheet set is a sheet set with a high thread count (the # of threads per square inch in both directions in the weave).  The higher the thread count, the more luxurious the touch and feel of the fabric.

Cotton ranks #1 in my book, but the market offers flannels, silks, satins, percale, microfiber, just to name a few.
Investing in a high quality sheet set not only offers that luxurious comfort but also durability.  You should be able to save long-term by having sheets that will last for many years to come.
Do your research, know what you are shopping for and dress your bed the way you want to be dressed.  With style and comfort!  Sleep better, feel better!

Making Wise Use Of Our Time and Space

In an effort to complete life's daily tasks, we sometimes forget that it's all about working smarter, not just harder.
For those of us who strive on working under pressure, we have this philosophy that only the best is good enough and so we work diligently but always try to carve out strategies that would enable us to produce a high quality, value-added product or service to our Clients.

Those same fundamentals can be implemented in the way we manage our own spaces.  The same attention to detail and quest for excellence can certainly elevate us in thinking what's best suited for a particular space, making a physical or mental checklist of what it requires to create that special space that would be warm and inviting, but also one that would also inspire others to go forward and design well, love passionately, embrace life with vigor, and ultimately a space that radiates our own unique personalities.

Enjoy doing what you love!

Inspiring View

We all get inspiration from the great outdoors.  A room with a view inspires many of us to relax in our sanctuaries, to create, to add touches to our living spaces that are reflective of all the colors we see around us.

Infusing these colors in our spaces allows us to find balance and harmony with nature, so why not let the sun shine in?

Here are some pics I took at home this Summer.

Fall Decor

I am not looking forward to winter just yet, but fall is almost here and it is one of my family's favorite seasons of the year.  Cool temperatures and balmy evenings are therapeutic.  Fall foliage in New England is breathtaking and welcomes visitors from far and near.

As we venture out on our scenic tour, my daughter and I will be thinking of all the unique ways we can decorate for the fall season.  For starters, we plan to collect pinecones and hit the craft store.
Pinecones fall most times of the year, but usually in the fall season.

Last year we got creative with cinnamon-scented pinecones.  We filled baskets and place them on coffee tables, countertops and even in the bathroom.  We even sprinkled a little pinecone love in the closets.
This fall we look forward to many more exciting and unique ways to use them around the home.  A little paint and some canvas are just a couple of items on our shopping list.

We look forward to sharing with you soon! Exciting!

Light Up Your World

Add warmth and some drama with the addition of beautiful lamps in your space. Lamps marry style and function.  A finishing touch to an empty space or table, task lighting when you need it and lamps work great as accent lighting to wall art and other decor accents.
Choose a lamp that compliments your room and fits well in your space.
Hope you get inspired!

Around The Color Wheel

Lori Dennis

So you are afraid to go bold in your color choice.  You want to create a warm and inviting space but you are not quite sure where you stand on the color wheel.

Much of our personal fashion choices can often be found in the way we decorate our own spaces.  Look around.  What's your favorite shoe color or your favorite color dress, or suit?  The answer to this simple question may well be your solution to your color dilemma when infusing color into your space.

Kenneth Brown

Outgoing personalities usually love to create with bold color and patterns. Some, however, like to play it safe and stay with a neutral color palette.

Where ever you choose to turn on the color wheel, get inspired and create!

Uncorking the bubbly in style

Last evening I attended a friend's birthday celebration. An amazing Mom, Wife and local Hair Stylist, this lady exudes confidence, and beauty that is so unpretentious.
Great family, friends, food, fashion and style filled the atmosphere.
Champagne flowed.  We celebrated with those we knew and made new acquaintances.
It was an elegant event.  Nothing short of the lady who deserved it.
Planning your next party?  Here is some design inspiration.

Sun, white sands, turquoise waters, and northeast trade winds conjure up images of an island paradise.  Born on the beautiful island of Barbados and raised in New England, these images from Coastal Living bring the tropics home.

Window Dressing ~ A valancing act!

Window treatments provide privacy, sunlight control and insulation from nature's elements like summer heat and winter cold.
When it comes to decorating a room, nothing pulls it all together more than a great set of window treatments.  You might be tempted to choose from the most dominant color in the room, but why play matchy-matchy when you can have fun looking around the room for a great accent piece, like a pop of color in an accent pillow, throw, vase, or artwork and use this as guided inspiration in your color choice.

There is a vast array of fabrics and styles to choose from.  Silks, linens, and cottons are excellent fabric choices. Curtain panels, over-the-top draperies, valances, streamlined shades are also some of the many styles to choose from when dressing up your room.
If you are shopping for window treatments for your bedroom, you may choose to avoid sheer curtains by using thicker and darker curtains to ensure privacy.  Dress up a neutral room with bold colors and patterns.  This adds drama and visual interest in the room.  For rooms that are already bold (paint color, or wallpaper), you may opt for a more neutral choice.

To top it off choose hardware that best compliments the style of your room.  Finishes are plentiful.  Brushed nickel, wrought iron, polished brass, stainless steel and so many others.
